Advent Day 9 - The Lord Fights for His People

Advent Day 9 – The Lord Fights for His People

As we journey through the season of Advent, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for Christmas, we are reminded of God’s unwavering faithfulness. Advent points to the arrival of Jesus, the Savior who came to fight the ultimate battle for us—a battle we could never win on our own.

In Exodus 14:14, we read these powerful words: "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." This verse was spoken to the Israelites as they stood trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea. They were powerless to save themselves, but God stepped in with miraculous deliverance, parting the waters and securing their freedom.
This same God, who fought for His people then, continues to fight for us today. In the story of Christmas, we see God stepping into our broken world through the birth of Jesus. The battle against sin and death was not one we could fight, so God sent His Son to win it for us.

The stillness of that first Christmas night reminds us that salvation is not about striving but trusting. Just as the Israelites were called to be silent and trust God, Advent invites us to pause, reflect, and rest in the truth that God has already won the victory. Through Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, the ultimate battle has been fought—and won—on our behalf.
This Advent season, as you prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, take heart in knowing that you are not alone in life’s struggles. The same God who sent His Son to save the world is still fighting for you. Whatever challenges you face, remember this promise: "The Lord will fight for you." Trust Him, and let His peace fill your heart.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for fighting the battles I cannot win. During this Advent season, help me to trust in Your power and rest in the peace You bring through Jesus. May my heart be filled with hope and joy as I celebrate the victory You secured through the birth of Your Son. Amen.
